How it works

  1. Get in touch. Contact my secretary, Helen, on +44 7757 310098 or at pa@migynaecology.com, or send an enquiry. Tell us briefly where you are and what you would like help with.
  2. Send your scans and reports. My secretary, Helen, will send you a secure link to upload your scan reports and, if possible, the images themselves, with any operation notes and letters from your doctors. I review them before we speak. How to send scans
  3. A video consultation, in my video clinics on Monday and Wednesday evenings. We talk through your history, what your scans show and what can be achieved, in English or Arabic. I will tell you honestly whether surgery is likely to help, and if it is not, what else may.
  4. Planning your visit. If you decide to come, Helen will arrange your consultation, any scans and your operation as close together as possible. You will receive written information about the procedure and recovery, and, if you are paying for yourself, a fixed-price quotation from the hospital, before you book your travel.
  5. Surgery and recovery. I see you before your operation, carry it out myself and see you again before you travel home.
  6. Follow-up from home. Follow-up consultations can be held by video, and you leave with a full report for your doctors at home.

How long to plan to stay

This depends on the operation, and I will give you a personal plan before you book your travel. As a guide, allow a few days after a hysteroscopy (an operation inside the womb through the vagina), and around four weeks after major keyhole surgery, such as a hysterectomy, a myomectomy or surgery for deep endometriosis, before a long-haul flight. A long flight soon after major surgery raises the risk of blood clots in the legs or lungs (venous thromboembolism, or VTE), so waiting is safer. I will see you again before you travel home.

Where I operate

My clinics are in Sutton, Wimbledon, Ashtead and Epsom, in south-west London and Surrey, within reach of both Heathrow and Gatwick airports. My robotic (da Vinci) operating lists run at Spire St Anthony's Hospital in Sutton and Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon. You can find details of each hospital on the locations page.

Keyhole and robotic surgery

Since 2013, more than 99% of my abdominal operations have been keyhole rather than open, and my conversion rate from keyhole to open surgery has been around 0.1% (about these figures). Keyhole surgery is not right for everyone, and I will tell you honestly whether it is right for you. Many patients come to me after being told that their operation can only be done through a large open incision; you can read more about second opinions and robotic and keyhole surgery.

Fees and insurance

My consultation fees are £300 for a new consultation and £225 for a follow-up. An ultrasound scan in clinic is £200, in addition to the consultation fee. Operations are quoted by the hospital as a fixed-price package, in writing, before you decide.

I am recognised by international insurers including Bupa Global, Allianz Partners, Cigna and Healix, as well as the major UK insurers. At the CRP Clinic: Bupa and self-pay only. Please check your cover and obtain authorisation before you travel. The fees and insurance page lists every insurer.

Questions patients often ask

Can I speak to you before I decide to travel?

Yes. Most patients from abroad start with a video consultation, after sending me their scans and reports. I can then tell you whether I think surgery or another treatment is likely to help, what further tests you would need, and roughly how long to plan to stay.

Do I need a referral?

Not if you are paying for yourself, although a letter from your own doctor is always helpful. Many insurers ask for a referral, so check with yours before booking.

Will my doctors at home be kept informed?

With your permission, yes. After every consultation you receive a detailed letter, and after any operation a full report of what was found and done, which you can share with your doctors at home. I am happy to speak to them if that would help.

Can I have consultations in Arabic?

Yes. Consultations are available in English or Arabic, in person or by video. Please tell my secretary, Helen, when you book if you would prefer Arabic. A summary of this page is available in Arabic.

What happens if I have a problem after I fly home?

Before you leave I will make sure you know what to expect and what to look out for, and you will have my secretary’s contact details. For anything urgent, seek medical help locally straight away. Follow-up consultations can be held by video.
