Fees and insurance
Fees and insurance
Whether you are insured or paying for yourself, you will know the costs before you commit. Consultation fees are set out below, and operations are quoted by each hospital as a fixed-price package.
Consultation fees
| New consultation | £300 |
|---|---|
| Follow-up consultation | £225 |
| Ultrasound scan in clinic | £200, in addition to the consultation fee |
| New consultation with a scan in clinic | £500 in total |
- Video and telephone consultations cost the same as consultations in person.
- An appointment to go through your results is charged as a follow-up consultation.
- There is no charge for cancelling or rearranging an appointment.
- A scan in clinic is recommended only when it will help, and we agree it with you first.
These are my own fees for consultations. Hospital charges for tests, such as blood tests, MRI scans or laboratory analysis of samples, are billed separately by the hospital, and my secretary, Helen, or the hospital can tell you about these in advance.
Operations and procedures
If you are paying for yourself, each hospital quotes operations and day-case procedures as a fixed-price package, which usually includes the hospital stay, theatre costs and the fees of the surgeon and anaesthetist. You receive a written quotation before you decide, and it sets out exactly what is included. Each hospital explains its self-pay packages on its own website:
- Spire St Anthony's Hospital: self-pay information (opens in a new tab)
- Ashtead Hospital: self-pay information (opens in a new tab)
- Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital: self-pay information (opens in a new tab)
Some hospitals also offer ways to spread the cost; ask the hospital's self-pay team for details.
Private medical insurance
I am recognised by the major UK insurers. I am Bupa fee-assured, which means my fees are covered in full by Bupa for eligible treatment, subject to your policy terms and any excess. I am also part of Bupa's Open Referral Network.
Insurers that recognise me include:
- Allianz Partners
- Aviva
- AXA Health
- Bupa
- Bupa Global
- Cigna
- Exeter Family Friendly
- Healix
- VitalityHealth
- WPA
CRP Clinic: Bupa and self-pay only. Other insurers do not cover appointments there.
If your insurer is not listed, please ask my secretary, Helen, who will check for you.
Paying for yourself
You can book directly, without a referral from your GP, although a letter from your GP is always welcome. My secretary, Helen, or the hospital will tell you how to pay for your consultation when you book. For operations, the hospital will give you a fixed-price quotation in writing before you decide.
Questions about fees
My secretary, Helen, is happy to help with any question about fees or insurance. Telephone 07757 310098 or email pa@migynaecology.com.
